Has a twin brother, David. Both were born in Tulia, TX (he is 13 minutes older than David). Raised on a small farm in Tulia,
TX.
Attended Lubbock Christain College then transferred to West Texas
State. He and brother, David, dropped out of college to join the cast
of the Lawrence Welk Show as a singing / guitar-playing duet in
October, 1977. They were featured as the Otwell Twins on the show and
were frequently paired up with the two Aldridge Sisters when
performing.
Roger and David stayed with the Lawrence Welk show until it ended in
April, 1982. However, they continued to appear on the occasional
Lawrence Welk reunion or special events concerts.
Today, The Otwell Twins can still be seen on Lawrence Welk Show re-runs
on PBS.
