Ian studied film and photography at Art School.
After moving to Manchester, he was employed at Carlton Studios for three years
before moving on to work as studio photographer for a top advertising
agency. In the late 80s he set up his own studio shooting fashion and
still life, working on assignments around the world. Late 90's, and Ian
set up Biffa Production company shooting pop videos, adverts, and short
films. He also produced a spec TV series "Actors". Which gained great
interest from the BBC and Paramount Comedy Channel.
In 2010 his production company completed the black comedy feature film
Rebels Without A Clue. It won three awards at the Ibiza International
Film Festival; Best Cinematography, Best Soundtrack, and Best
Supporting Actor. Ian was also the cinematographer (credited under an
alias of Ivan D Rennov). He received the award from Oscar winning
Cinematographer Ronnie Taylor.
Rebels was also nominated for Best UK Feature at Raindance Film
Festival - London.
Best Little Whorehouse in Rochdale was his 2nd feature. Winning -
Audience Choice Award at Palm Beach Film Festival Best Foreign Feature
at San Diego International Film Festival Best Feature at London
Independent Film Festival.
Ian spends his time between Los Angeles and the UK. When not directing
or writing he teaches acting for camera under the name "Vernon Acting
Method".
