Eduard was born in Kazakhstan to a German family which relocated to Germany, when the Soviet Union disintegrated. He grew up in the southwest German town of Kaiserslautern and studied in the historic city of Trier. During this time Eduard became fascinated with street photography, developing his photographic eye and compositional skills.
As a young adult, he lived briefly in London and Belfast before settling in Prague. It was here, where he discovered his passion for documentary film through the One World documentary film festival. Leveraging his photography background, Eduard immersed himself in documentary filmmaking in Prague, teaching himself cinematography and editing through an independent, self-driven approach.
His earliest works involved creating reportages that documented environmental activism firsthand, filming and editing direct actions and protests. This lead to the cooperation with Andrea Culková on her film "Grief".
Shaped by diverse cultures, Eduard lends a discerning eye to conveying universal human stories. His forthcoming documentary "Letters from Kyiv" examines the strength of young Ukrainians, as they cope with the impacts of war.
