He began his career shooting skateboarding films in Venezuela while studying to become an audiovisual journalist, an experience that grounded his visual language in movement, authenticity, and raw energy. It was during this period that he discovered his passion for narrative filmmaking.
Based in the United States while maintaining strong creative ties to Latin America, Barroeta has built an international career shooting both feature films and short-form narrative projects. His feature film credits include Dry, Bravetown, Monday Night at Seven, Tony Tango, Operación Jaque and Aguadilla.
In the short film world, his cinematography can be seen in acclaimed and award-winning projects such as Broken, She Kills Him, and A Monkton Family Christmas, which have screened at major international festivals including Toronto and Cannes.
