Matt Flugger is a writer, producer, camera operator, editor and IT
logistics professional living in Los Angeles.
Matt founded the Los Angeles Edit Co. (laedit.com), where he shot and
cut This is Danny Gans (Halsey Group), a biography of the legendary
Vegas headliner including interviews with Celine Dion, The
Niederlanders, Steve Wynn and Jay Leno. At trailer house Alkemi Matt
built a PAL suite and cut the extended trailer for HBO's Tsunami: The
Aftermath. Here he also assistant produced an ongoing television
advertising campaign for Buena Vista's Saving Shiloh. At JUMP! Creative
trailer house, Matt was the associate producer on many trailers,
including Sony's The Contract and Perfect Stranger, and New Line's
40the Anniversary Reel and Havoc 2. In Toronto, Matt edited the
award-winning short films Polished (dir. Ed Gass Donnelly) and Baby Boy
(dir. Patrick Arias).
Matt has shot and produced music videos, promotional materials and
single releases for acclaimed Toronto musicians Suzie McNeil (Rock
Star: INXS) and Sean Cotton (half of the highly acclaimed duo The
Undesirables.). He created a demo package for Jeremy McPherson which
landed McPherson a hosting role on The Re-Inventors (History Channel).
In Boston, he held the Deck 2 videographer position for Blue Man Group.
Matt founded Busterhouse Productions in 2002 with his wife Tara Samuel,
where he edited and scored the short film Find (2006). Find was
nominated for Best Narrative Short at the Austin Film Festival and has
screened at film festivals all over the world including the Los Angeles
Short Film Festival, The Canadian Filmmakers Film Festival, the Short
Film Festival of India and New York City's New Filmakers Festival. In
Toronto, Matt produced a series of notorious events for Busterhouse
called the Aquarius Parties (C'Est What, Canadia Dell'Arte, Vox), which
were attended by many of Toronto's finest musicians.
Matt holds an M.F.A from the Massachusetts College of Art where he
specialized in AVID production and graduate writing at the very
prestigious Studio for Interrelated Media program. He received a Film
Studies Certificate and B.A from the University of Massachusetts, with
a concentration in Psycho-Analytic theory. He founded the Pioneer
Valley Five College Film Festival in Amherst, Massachusetts, which was
the first of its kind in the area and is still going strong. In Boston,
he competed at the Boston Poetry Slam and sang light opera for a
Gilbert and Sullivan troupe. He worked on the production team for Elvis
& Marilyn: 2X Immortal at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston,
and stage managed folk music concerts for Songstreet Productions in
Somerville. Matt also worked as a tech for Tori Amos, the World
Wrestling Federation, and rock band The Cult.
As a songwriter and performer, Matt has frequented the stages of New
York (Sidewalk Cafe, CBGB, Rafifi, Matchless), Boston (Club Passim,
Cantab) and Toronto (The Drake Hotel, Hard Rock Cafe, The Rivoli). Matt
produced two records (Racetracker (2002), Testify (2003). Matt's music
was featured on Avril Benoit's Here and Now on CBC Radio. In 2006 Matt
formed the band The Black Currents and is scheduling a spring 2008 tour.
