Born in India, Vivek Sharma majored in Economics and Business. Since
immigrating to the US in 1988, he worked hard to establish himself as a
filmmaker. This opportunity presented itself in the form of his
collaboration with Mr. Andrew Stone in forming a documentary film
production company, Merci Entertainment, Inc. in 1996. While their
peers were converting to digital documentary filmmaking, both Vivek
Sharma and Andrew Stone fought hard and square to make their feature
length documentary, "Break" on film to preserve the eloquence of
filmmaking. This documentary, even though a work-in-progress, is now
nearing completion.
In 1998, both Vivek Sharma & Andrew Stone formed their second company,
Merci Media, Inc. to provide specialty services for independent &
Studio (film) companies. The company also provided high-end commercials
for companies such as American Express, Revlon, United
Healthcare/Oxford, Kellogg, The Coca-Cola Company, The Dow Jones
Company, to name a few. Merci has had a privilege of working with some
of the top Internet web sites like ivillage.com, amazon.com,
monster.com, and then some. Merci Media, Inc. has been acknowledged as
one of the best boutique film productions companies by top ad &
marketing agencies worldwide. The company also works very closely with
BBC, Viacom, AOL & Time Warner Companies and the Discovery Channel
Networks not only in the US, but globally. Several series, PSA's,
infomercials for home cooking products to sports & exercise
equipment's, health care, home spa products and skin care equipment
have been generated under the expertise of Merci.
At the end of 2004, the companies relocated from their cramped quarters
in Chelsea, Manhattan to New York's trendy filmmaker's Mecca, DUMBO --
the Brooklyn waterfront.
Vivek Sharma is presently a filmmaker in transition. His focus has now
shifted from commercial work to full-time filmmaking/acting. However,
Merci Media, Inc. continues to provide high quality services through
his protégés in this tightly knit company.
