Suvas Kar Das, born into a military family in Imphal, Manipur and bought up in Guwahati, Assam began his career as a reporter in print media at the age of 19 after getting trained in Journalism, Mass Communication and Photography in Northeast India. He later moved to Delhi to study filmmaking at Triveni Kala Sangam, Jamia Millia Islamia University and Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan, also completing short courses at SRFTI, FTII and NSD. During this time, he worked as a camera person and reporter for various known news agencies/bureaus and renowned television news channels.
He is associated with Dapon the Mirror, a theatre group in Tangla, Assam led by Pabitra Rabha. He earned a Master's Degree in Performing Arts - Specialization in Theatre from Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Centre For Studies In Performing Arts, Dibrugarh University, Assam.
Moving to Mumbai in November 2020, he entered the film industry as a casting intern in 2021, started working with Trishaan and Shubham Casting (by Trishaan & Shubham Gaur) where he gradually graduated as a casting assistant then associate. Later he moved to Anti-Casting (by Vaibhav Vishant) and Casting Bay (by Anmol Ahuja & Abhishek Banerjee). Now, he runs his own casting company as an independent casting director for web series, films, and advertisements.
