Ivan Kokorin was born in Moscow. He is a Russian theater and film actor, best known for films such as Die neunte Kompanie (2005), Leben einmal anders (2003), Bruder 2 (2000), and Posledniy bronepoezd (2006).
A 2000 graduate of the Moscow Art Theatre School-Studio (MXAT), he made his stage debut at the A. P. Chekhov Moscow Art Theatre in his fourth year. That same year, he also appeared on-screen for the first time in Aleksey Balabanov's cult classic Bruder 2 (2000).
In 2003, he starred as Nemo-one of the leads-in Leben einmal anders (2003), directed by Bakhtyar Khudojnazarov, which went on to win two awards at the Tokyo International Film Festival.
The turning point in his career came in 2005, when he gained wide recognition for his role as Private Chugainov in Fedor Bondarchuk's Die neunte Kompanie (2005), a film that earned numerous prizes and accolades.
To date, his filmography exceeds 75 titles, including Bratya Karamazovy (2009), Dom Solntsa (2010), I'll Wait, Revelations, Fighters 2, The Last Frontier, Ostap Bender - Der Kampf gegen Master Crowley (2021), Restoran po ponyatiyam (2022), and The Recruited, among others.
In addition to his screen work, he is a featured reader ("artist-lecteur") at the Moscow State Academic Philharmonia.
Nominated for the Golden Mask theater award in 2018 for his role as Vandal in the Mayakovsky Theatre's production Exile / My Friend Freddie Mercury.Nominated for the Poet of the Year "Debut" literary prize in 2022.Awarded Reader of the Year 2024 by FB magazine.
He also curates the author's acting course at Aleksei Mitta's film school.
