Few artists have created a body of work as rich, varied and vibrant as
Zernul R. Shackelford. Listening to his music, it's easy to see that
his major musical influences range from heavy metal rock legends Kiss
and Metallica, the one of a kind Sting, to Michael Jackson and Prince
and many more. No other contemporary artist can blend so many diverse
styles into a cohesive whole. Zernul (pronounced Zer-nyal) started
playing music at a young age. He not only learned how to read music on
his own, but has become a musical one-man tour de force, playing all of
the instruments in his songs from drums, guitar, piano and bass, and
invested his talent into becoming an accomplished musician and film and
television composer. He has worked with charitable nonprofit
organizations like the YMCA to working with Academy Award winning
Director Chris Walas.
Adding to his accomplishments Zernul joined forces with Omar McClinton and
third member Delicandro Baker to form Independent Production company
Various Artists Productions. This endeavor has given Zernul an
opportunity to fulfill yet another talent he's been nurturing, Writing
and Producing. Together they have slowly achieved their goal, one step
at a time, creating wonderful projects that inform, entertain and
enlighten along the way.
But the addition of film making has not diluted the drive that he has
for his music. Zernul feels that his best composition work has yet to
be heard. Having many other television and feature projects on his
plate he strives to provide the best he can every time.
Currently he lives in Merrillville, Indiana where he supports his wife
Keri and their two daughters, all of whom are quite supportive of his
dream. They are all featured in his own indie film, Terminal Front.
