Composer, songwriter ("Into the Night", "With the Wind and the Rain in Your Hair", "By the Bend of the River"), author and singer, educated at Mankato State Normal College and the Cosmopolitan School of Music in Chicago. She also studied in Europe. She sang in churches and in concerts in the US and abroad. Among her works, she wrote music for Tony Sarg's Marionettes and for animated films. Joining ASCAP in 1925, her chief musical collaborator was Jack Lawrence. Much of her work was written under the pen name "Bernard Haig". Her other popular-song compositions include "The Fisher's Woidow", "A Love Song", "Ol' Jim", "The Snow", and "Gypsy Life". Her sacred song compositions include "Dedication", "27th Psalm" and "When Jesus Walked on Galilee".
