Dona Roy is a performer & creator of Indian origin, born in Kolkata, India on June 27th,1998 to a professional footballer turned banker & a professional singer turned philanthropist!
Dona started training under renowned Bharatanatyam dancer Thankumani Kutty(Kalamandalam) at 6 & represented her dance academy at various prestigious events & started accompanying her mother, a vocalist, on professional tours as a dancer/performer herself across the globe, her intense love for dance motivated her to train in four other different dance forms namely Contemporary ,Jazz, Kathak & Hip-Hop ,meanwhile, she joined a performing arts academy run by her mother to get professionally trained as a singer & theatre actor, hence ,By 7,the actor had already started composing and performing as a power packed multi-hyphenated performer on national & international stages!
Being a spiritual maverick born into a dysfunctional household, seeking the ultimate truth has always been her principal quest, she kept doing odd jobs for the majority of her school life while continuing her creative endeavors, from tutoring children for pocket money to volunteering as a dance & acting coach for kids at local orphanages to assisting filmmakers on multiple sets to even co-heading a local performing arts academy for underprivileged kids.
At 8,she rendered her voice as a child voice over artist for a children's album called "Amar Pushir Biye" and finally, At 14,she turned to modeling!
As a model she has been a part of multiple campaigns, calendars, photo shoots & fashion weeks including the prestigious Kyron Kochi international fashion week, but modeling wasn't enough, she fell in love with styling & design and the college dropout went on to collaborate with a leading national denim brand as a fashion communication expert for a short while until she revisited her childhood hobby of writing accidentally while going through a grave personal trauma, she once again immersed herself into the imaginary yet magical world of storytelling, navigating her forgotten knack for writing extensively this time, consequently, she rejoined college, finished her undergrad with a major in English literature(psychology minor) and went on to add an advanced diploma in creative writing, an advanced certification in theatre arts and a post graduate degree in English literature to her already capacious portfolio of professional training over the years!
Linguistics being her forte, she is fluent in English, Hindi, Bengali, elementary French & Spanish. The actor keeps learning new languages for the sheer love of it and can articulately camouflage into various accents and dialects depending on the need of the hour!
She absolutely adores her moments of solitude, her solo hiking trips to admire mother nature, but the lady exclaims "I can't keep walking miles on a treadmill and still end up nowhere, it's a sham! that way I don't believe in gyms, but I do like working out to keep up the discipline so, I'd rather swim or go cycling as long as need be or dance or play a sport am good at, be it basketball, badminton or cricket or just brisk walk when I have to exercise!"
The quantum physics enthusiast and ethical vegan is also the founder of "D.A.DCHAITANYA MANDALI" ,a community Striving for a more sustainable & compassionate earth through activism & advocacy.
On June 2020,the "brown and profound" feminist with resolute optimism as her armor launched "MAVERICK SHRINK'S", a podcast that addresses diverse topics in an engaging manner with a blog by the same name, in fact, the podcaster calls it her "personal audio journal" in the trailer of the show!
A strong believer of trailblazing a path of refreshing change into the entertainment industry through representation, inclusive stories & ethical platforms, she launched "D.A.D PRESENTS", an independent production studio that solely focuses on presenting inclusive stories through ethical means while keeping it real!
