Malaz Usta is a visual artist and a filmmaker. Raised in Damascus, he moved to Istanbul in 2016 where he studied at the Faculty of Communication and at the Faculty of Fine Arts at Marmara University. He received multiple awards for his first short film A Year in Exile (2020) which was screened in festivals like Ji.hlava Documentary Film Festival, Istanbul International Film Festival, Kyiv International Film Festival, Moscow Documentary Film Festival, Iran International Film Festival, Movies that Matter Film Festival among others.
