Christopher M. Long - Biography
Christopher M. Long is an all-around filmmaker whose career spans more than three decades, creating projects since 1993 across the genres of horror, thriller, action, suspense, and drama. A true multi-hyphenate, he produces, writes, directs, acts, edits, composes original music, records sound, and operates cameras. Long is no stranger to film sets and has built a reputation for doing nearly every job behind-or in front of-the camera.
Rooted in the gritty atmosphere of 1970s and 1980s grind house and exploitation cinema, Long blends rough-edged intensity with high-octane entertainment. His visual style leans heavily on textured 1980s grain, shadow-soaked aesthetics, and the handmade spirit that defined the genre films of those eras. While horror and thrillers are his creative home, he often crosses into action and dark drama when the story demands it.
Across thirty-plus years of relentless creativity, Long has completed more than 175 films-ranging from experimental shorts to full-length features. Many of these works were independently crafted from start to finish, showcasing his dedication and sharpening every facet of his craft. Notable series include the Haunting Dead films (2013-2023), The Shrink series (2014-2023), and The Dead Haunt series (2012-2023). His early work includes The Shifter (1995), Demon in the Mirror (1994), and his first short film, Sundown (1993). His feature films include Pure Evil (2016), Curse of Morningwood Drive (2017), The Hitman’s Dark Passage (2021), Deadly Intent (2021), Deadly Intent II (2022), and most recently the feature-length Nightmare Games (completed in 2025).
Long has founded several production banners throughout his career, including CML Productions, Guardian Productions, Screaming Skulls Productions LLC, Touch of Vengeance Productions, Sleerik H Productions, and Christopher M. Long Productions.
Creatively, he gravitates toward stories of revenge, crime, the supernatural, inner demons, possession, and the horrors-human or otherwise that stalk the shadows. His films mix atmospheric dread with explosive moments of action, aiming to grip audiences and never let go. His work channels the uneasy textures, raw grit, and gothic intensity of classic genre cinema while infusing it with modern velocity.
Long draws inspiration from genre icons such as John Carpenter, Alfred Hitchcock, Sam Raimi, William Lustig, and Andy Sidaris. His favorite actress is Playmate-turned-actress Kym Malin, for whom he composed a trilogy of songs including "Dream Angel Miss May 1982" and "She’s Picture Perfect Miss May 1982." His action influences include Kurt Russell, Charles Bronson, Don Johnson, and James Stewart.
Looking forward, Long is developing a modern genre-driven studio model inspired by the bold, unapologetic filmmaking spirit of companies like Cannon Films-lean, aggressive, and fearless. His long-term ambition is to grow a production label devoted to high-impact thriller, action, and horror films, carrying the legacy of the past into a new generation of independent filmmaking.
