Shehab Satti, a Sudanese filmmaker born in Oman in 1998, has demonstrated a profound dedication to cinema and media from a young age. His passion for filmmaking ignited at the age of 8 when he organized a group of children to produce a dramatic clip that went viral online. Since then, he has actively participated in various short films, TV shows, and workshops to refine his craft and expand his expertise.
Shehab has attended numerous workshops in filmmaking, media, and culture as a trainee under esteemed institutions such as Sudanese Voices in collaboration with the American Embassy in Khartoum, Goethe-Institut, the British Council, Nas Academy, the Thomson Foundation, and the Spanish Cooperation in Cairo. Beyond his participation, he has also conducted workshops in media and filmmaking, contributing to the development of emerging talents in these fields.
In addition, he has moderated a cultural dialogue platform on cinema for the Sudan Film Factory Foundation and served as a jury member at notable events, including the Ajyal Festival in Doha and the Khartoum Mobile Phone Film Festival.
One of my most notable works, Serotonin (2018), is an experimental short film exploring the effects of serotonin on characters grappling with loneliness, limbo, and a search for hope. This film, which earned the Black Elephant Award at the Sudan Independent Film Festival, visually articulates the inner struggles of individuals in challenging environments. It has been screened at prestigious venues such as Savvy Contemporary in Berlin, the Luxor African Film Festival in Cairo, Arabisches Filmfestival in Germany, Africa in Motion (AiM) Film Festival in the UK, The Mosaic Rooms in the UK, Shababik Independent Film Festival in Oman, and Aflam-Sudan in Nairobi. Additionally, it won second prize for Short Fictional Films at the Gothenburg Arab Film Festival in Sweden.
In Nosophobia (2021), I explored the isolating fears of a young man during a period of intense anxiety, reflecting the broader mental health challenges faced by today's youth. This film was selected for the Sudanese European Film Festival in Khartoum and the London Short Film Festival 2025 as part of the program For The Nile Is My Genesis.
Shehab graduated with distinction in 2020, earning a Bachelor's degree in Multimedia from Mashreq University. He completed his postgraduate studies in 2021, obtaining a Higher Diploma in Media.
