After finishing High School, Lorien studied Autonomous Arts at the Academy of Arts and Science in Rotterdam. After one year at the University of Utrecht studying Theatre, Film & Television sciences, she decided to apply at the Dutch Film & Television Academy in Amsterdam to study Production Design. Since graduating in 2000, Lorien worked
for television, film, commercials and theatre. With the entire Art Direction team for "Lepel" Lorien earned her first award.
After their collaboration on "The Emperor's Wife", Production Designer Wilbert van
Dorp again invited Lorien for Paul Verhoeven's "Zwartboek" (aka Black Book).
