After being asked to leave high school for selling it to Pepsi without
the consent of the principal, and asked to leave film school after one
year, Sanjay fell into representing children's books and attaching as a
producer at the age of 19.
By 23, he had packaged the movie
Best Actress (2000) for E!
Network based on the book while head of packaging for a talent agency
in Toronto. By 25, he convinced producer
Mace Neufeld to give him a shot, and was
given the script for Spider (2002). After
struggling with the project for 6 months, he convinced
David Cronenberg and
Ralph Fiennes to come on board. The film
won best picture at the Toronto Film Festival.
Then to everyone's amazement, left the industry to become a Master
Hypnotherapist and form BurmanBooks, a publishing company dedicated to
self-help and business books. With 230 authors over 16 years, and in 12 countries, the delivery of books, music and movies changed the industry.
Seeing the change, Sanjay formed IndieVue, an interactive streaming site for indie docs, features and series. Giving a new experience to users and a better platform for filmmakers, IndieVue has become one of the biggest independent streaming sites. With studios like Lionsgate, Film Karavan, and others, IndieVue.com is becoming the indie hub for cutting edge filmmakers.
