Eren Cakmak was born in Istanbul. He became interested in short films in high school. He made his first short film in his senior year of high school with the support of the Mithat Alam Film Center of Bogaziçi University. Two stories of the director, who liked to write short stories, were published in Kandil magazine. He also has an e-book called a little romance novel. The director's attention has evolved in this direction, as too many Syrian refugees have settled in the region where the director lives. He decided to attract Syrian refugees to their lives in Syria and Turkey. Accordingly, he made a 15-minute documentary about refugee lives and The Brief History of Syria. The director, who has won many international awards with this documentary, is also the founder and director of the Istanbul Golden Film Festival.
