Faulkner's early musical development began in Freetown, Sierra Leone, where he became involved in local choral activities, gaining valuable exposure to structured musical arrangements, vocal performance, and ensemble discipline. These early experiences would later inform his distinctive approach to sound selection and audience engagement.
His formal entry into professional broadcasting commenced in the mid-1990s at Sierra Leone's national broadcaster, then known as the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Service (now Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation - SLBC). There, he held the role of announcer and in-house DJ, contributing to both music programming and community-oriented content. He became known for his deep vocal delivery, smooth transitions, and intuitive programming style, eventually earning him the moniker "The Master Selector."
