José Alcubierre Pérez was a Spanish Republican deported to the Nazi camp of Mauthausen at age 14. He arrived in the "convoy of the 927," the only one carrying entire families. His father died in Gusen; José survived until liberation in 1945. He later lived in France, receiving the Legion of Honor for his testimony and resistance.
