Rocco DeVilliers is an accomplished writer, producer, and director whose career spans feature films, television, and documentary storytelling. He recently collaborated with Universal Studios to produce three documentaries exploring the creation and enduring legacy of Back to the Future, Knight Rider, and The Blues Brothers. Rocco's recent work includes the award-winning documentary series Gladiators of Steel, an in-depth exploration of the demolition-derby world and its most passionate competitors. Building on its success, he is producing multiple companion projects, including the spin-off series Gladiators of Steel: Smash Up and the follow-up Gladiators of Steel: Reverse Gear, currently in post-production.
Rocco co-wrote, produced, and directed the award-winning feature The Flyboys (released as Sky Kids overseas), starring Tom Sizemore and Stephen Baldwin; the film earned more than 70 festival awards, including Best Feature and Best Director. Rocco also produced the 2019 survival thriller Radioflash.
Rocco is currently producing several documentary series. Picture Car offers a detailed look at cinema's most iconic vehicles, while Cut to the Chase profiles legendary film and television car stunts from the pre-digital era. His upcoming series, End of the Road, explores the global transition from combustion engines to electric vehicles. Additional projects in development include Young Legends, a documentary series following 8 to 14 year-old racers competing on the track with dreams of joining NASCAR.
He is also in pre-production on the feature film The Flyboys (2026), a new chapter continuing his legacy of energetic, character-driven storytelling.
In addition to his creative work, Rocco leads Dark Coast Pictures, a full-service production and post-production company that has recently provided services to Apple+ and Universal Studios. Dark Coast Pictures continues to deliver high-end finishing, editorial, and production support for film and television clients worldwide.
