Songwriter ("Kitten On the Keys", "Stumbling", "Dizzy Fingers"), pianist, composer and author, educated at Chicago Musical College. He served in the US Navy during World War I, and went on to make many piano rolls. He led his own orchestra in vaudeville, night clubs, theatres and on radio. Joining ASCAP in 1922, his other popular-song and instrumental compositions include "Valse Mirage", "Three Little Oddities", "Buffoon", "Grandfather's Clock", and "Sittin' On a Log".
