His was the face on Quaker Oats cereal boxes. He was a part-time stage
actor and radio disc jockey in the Chicago area, and he managed the Van
Gogh portrait studios there with two others. He once won a Gold Medal
in public speaking from the State of Illinois, and narrated a number of
St. Patrick's Day parades in downtown Chicago.
