Roy 'Chubby' Brown is a character who started about 1970 in the working men's clubs of the North East of England and while never having made any television appearances he manages to sell out where ever he appears. He started out in various double acts then in an act called Alcock and Brown and when they split he went solo as Roy Chubby Brown in a patch work jacket and a flying helmet and used to do some 80.000 miles a year just touring the working mens clubs. He went on to sell over £30 million pounds worth of videos in the UK alone and had 2 albums, full of his songs , which went gold. In the early days he did a lot if theatres owned by councils but that stopped when he was regularly billed as the Rudest and Crudest although even now he's barred from the odd venue.He writes all of his own material spending some 6 hours a day trying out new gags, He did eventually go Down Under and do a tour of Australia which broke box office records with tickets selling out in the first day of sale and in 4 hours at Sydney. This was back in the late '90's
