John was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1967, and lived in Seattle,
Washington and Brookline, Massachusetts before settling in New York
City in 1989. He attended Berklee College of Music from 1985-1989 and
graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Music Degree. During this
period he wrote music extensively for Boston area theatrical
productions and composed two original musicals.
Currently a Freelance Sound Supervisor, John worked for Sync
Sound/Digital Cinema in New York City from 1989-2014. He specializes in
sound mixing, editing, and ADR supervision for film and television with
concentrations ranging from scripted live action, to animation, to
classical music. Credits include: "The Americans" (F/X), "Borgia"
(Canal+), MTV animation (Beavis & Butt-head, Daria, Celebrity
Deathmatch); HBO (Real Sex, various documentaries); and over 100 titles
as Music Editor for The Metropolitan Opera.
During the past 10 years John has written music independently for
several productions, including Daria (Trent's band & incidental music);
Celebrity Deathmatch (Open & "specialized" incidental music). Recent
projects include: Music for a 36 segment series designed to teach
English to Vietnamese children.
In addition to his work in the sound and music fields, John has
recently earned his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School.
