His family has been in show biz for generations. His grandparents were
Sam "Sammy" Benson the Wardrober/Wardrobe Supervisor/Costumer and
Jeanette Benson bit player, his mother was Marjorie Benson - Casting director,
his uncle was Eddie Benson - Stand-in and Stunts on the Ozzie and
Harrett Show, great aunt was Gertrude Brenig Bank - Stand-in from 1948
till she retired and her daughter Barbara replaced her.
He attended Page Military Academy, Hollywood Professional School and
Hollywood Academy. Spent most of his life working in show biz at many
different jobs in front and behind the cameras. Sammy his grandfather
came from vaudeville to Hollywood to work for William Fox then stayed
at 20th Century Fox till his death June 13th, 1957. Marjorie Benson
(II) the casting director was with Ruth Burch for 17 years at Hal Roach
Studio & T. & L. Productions (Danny Thomas & Sheldon Leonard). After
years in front of the cameras and performing on stage and for live
audiences with his gun juggling and trick shooting act (his teacher
where Rodd Redwing and Andy Anderson the holstermaker). Long time
friends Thell Reed and Ray Chapman and shooting buddies since the late
1950s. He started working behind the cameras teaching firearms for
movies and television, props and production work till 1990 when he was
forced to retire due to an illness.
