Alves Barbosa was born on December 24, 1931 in Figueira da Foz, Portugal. He was a professional road cyclist, very popular in the 1950s, with prizes at races like Volta a Portugal or Tour de France. Then, he was invited to the cinema in O Homem do Dia (1958) and also appears in the documentary A XV Volta a Portugal (1950). He died on September 29, 2018 (age 86) in Figueira da Foz, Portugal.
